About me:
There are two things that define me:
Sports and wanting to be different.
When I was a kid I always loved to learn new sports and be good at them. I also loved music. I taught myself how to play Bass and Guitar and just like with sports I had a hunger for learning to play new instruments.
As I was in an International School in which you are either Creative or Athletic, it was a bit strange to be both.
It was the exact same in University. When I was in University I was racing Kitebuggies, and started to experiment with kiting on the water in 1998. All of my buggy friends thought I was a complete nutcase, none of them could see the point of getting on the water with a kite. I however was feeling the great energy of gliding over the water with just a Board and a Kite.
As kiting started to grow I started doing as many competitions as I could and started to build up my experience and skills. I never really could push myself in the “Freestyle” competitions. I always found the format to restrictive. I much prefer freeriding combining all styles and giving a good show on the water. It’s probably the “Rockstar” in me that loves to play to the audience.
The Athlete in my found Kitesurf Racing in 2007. As soon as I entered my 1st Race on Fuerteventura, I had the dream of becoming World Champion in this new discipline. In 2010 I managed to become German Champion.
I had a really big crash this year where I smashed my Board with my body during a race. After that painful experience I was sure that it was always a good idea to wear a helmet during the races. I have to be able to blast downwind at high speeds without fear, and having a good helmet puts risk of injury out of my head. That’s why I am with Nutcase.
